Earrings, with a lot of bling

I found these two lampwork beads on etsy, and made some earrings out of them. Usually I would have made them very simple, with a pearl at the bottom, maybe a pearl on the top.
Not today, I felt like a lot of bling, and added a silver bead on top, pearls and swarovski crystals.

This is going to be long......

Last time I showed something here, it was september. Now, it is already december! I have been tatting al that time. This is what I have to show for it. I have been making snowflakes. most are from Jon Yusoff's patterns, from the book Elegant tatted gems, or the angel in the snow pattern. I love these patterns, they are nice to tat, have a bit of work in them, and look great. I have already managed to 'get rid of' half of the snowflakes, everyone I show them to wants them. And a couple of other patterns.
So here goes....
First, angels in the snow, pattern by Miranda Rensberger, the 2 others I forget where I got the pattern from. Thread used for these is DMC 80.

This is a pattern by Mary Konior, for a coaster, but if you make it from thin thread, it makes a nice ornament. this, and all the following ornaments, are made with King Tut quilting thread. in different colors.

These are all patterns by Jon Yusoff.

Angels in the snow, and one other pattern.

Yon Yusoff's again.

and The little seahorse dragon, by Debbie Arnold and Anne Bruvold. I think he is so cute. (other 2 = Yon again!)

These last 2 are tatted with hdt by the Yarnplayer, I love those colors.

Finished!!

I finally finished the fan. There are some things I would do differently, if I make it again. One row to the bottom pulled the whole thing a bit too tight, and I only noticed it when I had finished all the other rows. But decided to go with it. For a first try I think it is quite good, if I may say so!

Bookmark exchange

I did a bookmark exchange on the Tatting forums. I sent Lace Rn a bookmark like I already had made, the flowery SCMR bookmark. She sent me a lovely green bookworm! It is so cute.

Fan update

It is coming along slowly. The row I had made a design for last time, did not work. It pulled everything too much together. But I got a nice one now, which seems to work.
In the picture you can see how far it is now, I have another loose row waiting, to be joined a bit lower on. the mess in the front, where my shuttle and thread are on, is all the false starts and practice pieces I made. I have ordered the fan blades, they should arrive monday.

in between the fan rings, go other rings!

I have been working on my fan, made another nice pattern for a new row. I think I am doing this the wrong way, should first design a whole piece, instead of all loose rows. But I am going to go with it. If  can't fnd a way to connect everything together, I can always sew the loose pieces on some tule. When I start making the same mistake over and over (like forgetting to join the 6th ring to two other rings in the daisy motif, instead of to 1), it is time to put aside, and do something else. Just got out my metal rings and made this:
A pattern of shaggy loops with beads added. Perfect for spring!

And some other rings

I made this bracelet from a kit and instructions by Blue Buddha.
The instructions were so good, it was so much fun to make.

Look at this!

I got a nice package last week, from Erin Hinton. Chris Hinton from the Shuttle Shop had turned a bit of my tatting into a shuttle. The pattern I made for it is by Anne Bruvold. I changed it around a bit, she had put 4 small rings in the center, I made those into one large ring.

Also in the package was a wooden shuttle, with a dragon on it. I couldn't resist that one when I saw it. the pattern on the shuttle is taken from the seahorse dragon.

And I did do some tatting this time, made a bookmark, from a pattern by Mary Konior.

My big project this time is making a fan. I started out with the fan pattern on Linda Davies's blog, but got myself into a mess with that one. My own fault, never put your tatting down in the middle of a ring!
I ditched that one, and just started with a nice edging I liked. That came from the book schiffchenspitze. The picture is not that great, but gives you an idea of what I am doing. I may join all the edgings, or just sew them onto a tule or something.

not tatting, but it uses rings

It is time I wrote again here. This is what I have been up to, chainmail! started with one helm chain, with the beads on either side. But they flopped under the bracelet, and were not very visible. Then this morning I had the bright idea of adding another helm chain, and joining them with rings with the beads. I think it looks a lot better now.
The rings are aluminium, and 3,5 mm glass beads.

Seahorse dragon

After all the split rings of the bookmark, this was a nice pattern to do. You do have to keep count of the rings, but it goes together beautifully. I am going to use it as an ornament, maybe even hang it in my christmas tree when it is christmas time!
I used DMC size 80 thread for this one.
Pattern by Debbie Arnold and Anne Bruvold.

I found this pattern: flowery SCMR bookmark by Jane Eborall. It has a lot of different stitches and/or rings, like split rings, mock rings, and strange (to me at least!) joins. It took a few false starts, but I managed to finish it! And it looks great. Want to have another try at it some time, but now I want something easy, starting on the seahorse dragon pattern now.

HDT

Some time ago I bought some of Yarnplayer's thread, size 80, Knitty Gritty. Loved those fall colors. The photo's don't do justice to the colors.
I made 2 snowflakes with it. The right one is Jon Yusof's pattern magic moments, the right one angels in the snow. When I get round to it, the one on the left will have a crystal bead in the centre, the one on the right I am plannng to add some bling too, with crystals, maybe a small one in the middle, and a drop on the bottom, have to try what looks good.

Snowflake time!

As the weather is still so cold, and snow is forecast, it is still time for snowflakes. For me, it is always time for snowflakes! especially such pretty ones, as this one:
it is the pattern angels in the snow by Miranda Rensberger. I added a crystal bead in the middle. The thread is a white variegated Valdani thread.
Have made it in blue too:
this one is made with King Tut thread.
